Music at Redhill
Redhill School is a hive of musical activity and takes great pride in its musical achievements throughout the year. All children are encouraged to become musicians to experience the enjoyment and learning opportunities music can offer.
In addition to music in the classroom, children have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument.
We work closely with Telford Music Service to offer weekly lessons of keyboard, guitar, drums and violin. Please see reception for more details.
Whilst children are learning to play they are welcome to join the orchestra to gain experience of playing and performing together.
The Redhill Music Council is a group of children from Key Stage Two who organise some of the music in school. They regularly meet to decide musical themes for assembly and musical events in school.
Children who particularly enjoy singing can join the school choir. This is an after school club for Yr3 to Yr6 pupils providing many opportunities throughout the year to perform in school and the wider community.
At Christmas the choir sing carols with other schools at the Oakengates Christmas Lights Festival and in our local area. The highlight of the year for the choir has to be the Young Voices Concert in Birmingham when they perform with thousands of other children. It’s a truly memorable night for everyone, and an occasion not to be missed.
The Summer Term culminates with Redhill Musical Showcase, a platform for all budding musicians to perform to family and friends.
At Redhill there is something musical for everyone, so come along and join us in our music making adventures.
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”Plato
